Why does it matter where our flowers come from?

I’ve spoken a lot about the ‘environmental toll’ of our country’s flower consumption and why we only use British flowers. In addition to the persuasive environmental reasons, investing in British growers enables us to take risks and try new things, to extend our seasonal range and reduce dependency on imports. Big growers in Cornwall and Lincolnshire are doing this, and as a result of our own experiments we are now picking our first tulips in readiness for our English Springtime Bouquets this weekend. No mean feat for the chilly north west! Illness in the autumn stopped me from really pushing the possibilities of this but I am delighted that despite planting our bulbs late, we do have a harvest for Mother’s Day. I recently heard somebody say that with each pound we are investing in a system, so choose where you spend your pounds. It’s very true.

Thank you so much for everybody’s orders. Thank you for supporting our way! If you chose to collect your order, I have emailed you to arrange that. Deliveries will be on Saturday. The flowers are looking lovely and I’m excited to get making your bouquets!
