FAQs

What does ‘Seasonal’ mean?

Our flowers are seasonal because they are not all available year round. Most of the flowers we use are only available when that variety naturally flowers, without heat, light or unnatural fertilisers. Daffodils in spring, sunflowers in summer – these are ‘in season’. Seasonal means that we can’t promise a specific flower variety, because we are working with nature (the weather and pests!) but can guide you in the sorts of flowers that will be available for your event. We do use commercially greenhouse grown flowers in our ‘off’ seasons, where heating and lighting is used to ensure winter blooms. We limit our use of these flowers, buy from growers that use bio-fuel systems and are working on reducing their carbon footprint.

Can I visit Cumberland Flower Farm?

Cumberland Flower Farm is a busy smallholding where time is always in shorter supply than the things to do! As a busy workplace it is not set up for visitors. You can see our progress on our Blog and we intend to have Open Days in the future, join our mailing list to be the first to know when these will take place.
