Bright Wedding Flowers

Here’s a bright bridal bouquet from Sunday, which was carried down the aisle on Saturday by Naomi, made on Friday* using flowers and foliage I picked on Thursday evening**

If I’m vague about what I’ll be using in your wedding flowers it’s because of this approach. I’m not ordering from an international market. I’m not working to a preconceived design. I’m picking and creating with what’s looking perfect here, the day or so before your Cumbrian wedding.

The joy is realising that the experimental scented stocks missed Mother’s Day but are looking perfect for this, that a few stems of narcissi minnow create delicate sparkle amongst the bigger blooms, and that one blue anemone is just enough. It changes year on year, depending on the weather over the preceding season(s) (as well as other changing factors), so I can’t second guess these things, and although I do have British flowers as back up, it’s this ‘just picked-ness’ that I feel holds the creative magic…

Thanks and Congratulations to Naomi and Ben!

*except the ranunculus and about 4 stems of Parvi eucalyptus, both grown in Cornwall!

**tweaked on Saturday morning too
