Hot News
There’s a huge amount that’s alarming in our news at the moment - tragic, sad, abhorrent acts - but In yesterday’s news it was quietly reported that Antarctica’s ground temperature is currently 10C above average and that the earth’s temperature over the last year has consistently exceeded the 1.5C above preindustrial levels. It was important to not exceed this temperature rise to avoid the worst of climate breakdown; that’s when the impact of climate crisis becomes irretrievable. And we’ve failed. That means nothing we’ve done has been good enough. We’ve not been led well, we’ve not taken good advice and we’ve not curbed our consumption. Regardless of our individual commitments we are heading for a truly difficult future. And we’ve locked up some of the protesters who were taking action despite our collective lethargy. Despair? It’s terrifying.
Now we need to make it our priority to make this crisis our priority. I’ve kept my posts flowery for a long time but growers and farmers like me are experiencing an incredibly difficult year - growing things (read THE FOOD YOU EAT) is getting increasingly hard - and are living with the effects of this changing climate. I’m genuinely scared for my children’s future and I’m tired of being quiet about it. What are we going to do?
