Why can't you come and visit our Flower Farm?

"Why can't I come and visit your Flower Farm?" I've felt bad telling a number of people I don't offer tours recently, so I thought I'd talk a little bit about this today.

The reasons are wholly practical. It's my workplace, where I go to work. It's not designed for visitors. This is our access track (why I need that kubota!) We have no parking for cars. No loos. A lot of mud. and Muck. There's uneven ground, slippy bits and a few holes. (Thanks Dog/children) It's not a garden; there are weeds! When I have flowers, I am incredibly busy. Sometimes there doesn't seem to be many flowers because I deadhead the flowers that are hanging around looking pretty after I've cut everything that I can sell. And at the moment, when I have more time, there are very few flowers...

One day I would love to show you around. I understand that there is a romance to the idea of a flower farm - the glorious abundance of beauty - which is perfectly cultivated on instagram. And I know that as "home grown" is our USP, you'd like to experience our flowers in their home. I try to give you a taste of 'behind the scenes' by posting on here (insta stories) as much of my daily tasks as I think you can endure!! I do this to show you what the field is like and where your flowers are 'from'. But I can't stress enough how much time the growing the flowers takes and sometimes I just don't have time or energy to document what I'm up to.

It is an aspiration to show our customers around in the future, but there are some practicalities that we need to sort before we do that............. (More hours in the day, being one! HA!) so for now, I'm afraid it's firmly in the *not yet* box.
