September Days
I can’t quite bring myself to say it’s Autumn just yet although the ‘autumnal’ vibe is very evident in the field.
We’re busy planning next year’s spring and summer flowers too and I’m looking for things that love hot dry springs and oh so wet summers!
I think we’re all going to have to hold onto ‘little rays’ as we move into the colder months, which is why we’ve curated our first boxed bulb collections available soon to plant up this autumn and watch emerge, magnificent in 2021.
Although I’m tempted to light the fire and do some pressing writing I’m first going to the greenhouse to sow some more seeds, an activity that will help my head and my soul, if not my chilly fingers...

Not many things start to flower in September, but that is what makes field grown chrysanthemums so special. These chrysanthemums will feature in our autumn bouquets, wedding flowers and farewell tributes until the frosts.
More roses; an autumn flush.
Stop and Smell the Roses; all our orders this week have contained our beautiful roses, grown without any chemicals on our land here in west Cumbria. Their scent is exceptional. Admittedly our roses won’t be flowering for Christmas or in February, and they won’t last two weeks in a vase either. Between 3 -5 days is the norm, depending on the ride and the stage that they’re picked. But that’s why we treasure them now. They are flowers to savour, to celebrate, while they are looking AMAZING. And don’t they do that so well?
