Caring for your tulips

There’s probably one more week of tulips, some very lovely varieties this week, and they’re freshly pulled at a stage that will give you long vase life.

Here are our top tips for gettinng the most out of your tulips:

  • All flowers need to be kept in cool rooms away from heat (radiators or fires),

  • Keep out of direct sunlight (I know they look nice on windowsills, but you’re speeding up their demise!) and away from fruit bowls.

  • Give them fresh water daily (or at least check, they’re very thirsty)

  • Tulips continue to grow so chop a few cm off their stems if they get too dangly. Their heads are huge and heavy!

  • Heat really opens up the flowers, which is one good thing about the recent Baltic weather. We keep vases of the flowers we sell so that we can reassure ourselves of the quality and that the vase life good. I notice the difference if I don’t move them away from the stove when it’s lit.

We don’t treat our flowers with preservatives ………….. yes lots are……. But ours are so fresh, and cut at the perfect stage, so we don’t need to. If you follow this guidance you’ll max the vase life! We want you to enjoy our blooms!!
