Scottish Wedding Posey

A wee one. This posy was for Beth who asked for a small bouquet that captured something of the machair of the Hebridean island of Lewis with a hint of Africa…

I thought I’d show you two photos against different backgrounds to show how the different backdrop colour changes the overall impact, look and feel of the bouquet. Although I prefer the photo against the pink - bolder and jazzier - it is more ‘on brief’ captured against the white; textural, meadowy shades of whites, greens and blues with the brighter ‘pops’.

I’m very often shown images by couples of their preferred colour scheme and they’ve had a filter applied that significantly alters their appearance. There are lots of ways photographs can alter the appearance of things, as I’ve shown even just the backdrop or lighting can do it. The combination of colours will affect the tone, feel and overall colour scheme… with our understanding of colour and a continually changing flower of fields we work to colour palettes that meet the brief in real life. How we then photograph them… well… that’s subject to lighting, setting and skill! (And I’m no photography pro!)
